PCN from PCM need help

Hi guys,
I need some advice. I was issued an NTK in the post 2 weeks ago by PCM as my wife had straddled a parking space with her rear wheels encroaching over the space next to her.
This was during the evening at a Retail Park and my wife was rushing to get there to return an item to a store before store closing time.
She also had our daughter with her at the time who was ill and said she felt like she was going to throw up so rather than having her spewing in the car this was an additional factor her parking as she did as they immediately parked and went straight to the retail park toilets in case my daughter threw up, which thankfully she didn't.
The other point to mention is due to the timing, the car park was less than a third full so there was no shortage of parking spaces.
I intend to speak to the retailer tomorrow to see if they can get the ticket cancelled.
However failing this what should I do? I have not contacted the company PCM and today I am on day 23 of their 28 days time period to pay their extortionate charges.
Please advise.
