Boots and their advantage card

I have a card and received an email recently saying that unless I used the card before Dec 31 I would lose my points. At least they gave me due warning.
I went to a store and attempted to buy something but the card did not work. It was loaded to Google Wallet. The assistant was unhelpful resorting to "Can't you understand that the computer says no". I left and got a new card and uploaded it but that did not solve the problem and Boots assistance sought to get me to contact Google as it was clearly a problem with their software! 🫨 When I pointed out that around a dozen other cards worked ok she put the phone down on me!
It turns out (via experimentation) that you can only load the card to Google Wallet by doing it from the Boots App but no one told me that.

In short this post is to
1. Complain about the attitude of Boots staff instore and on the "help" line.
2. Complain about their software cf other companies with similar apps/cards
3. Offer this to, hopefully, help someone else in this situation.

Meanwhile, for the future, the independent chemist in my town is more deserving of my custom IMO as soon as I've used my points.
