Electrical question

Possibly a daft one! I need to change the extractor fan in by bathroom. It's like for like so pretty simple. I have switched it off at the isolator. Should I also cut the supply at the consumer unit?

It should be a double pole isolator so even if wired up the "wrong" way you ought to be safe - though I would probably want a sanity check with a voltage detector. Or turn off the circuit if you feel safer (but then you might be doing the job in the dark!).

Thank you all. The room does have a window so I don't need the lights on

Needs to be triple pole if it's a timed fan with a permanent live.

Call in a pro. "Pretty Simple" for someone that knows what they are doing.

You need to have it off at the consumer unit and have the correct kit to ensure you have safe isolation. The fans wiring can be confusing and if you not sure it may save time and money to get a professional in the end anyway.

Thanks for all the comments, I have finally got round to changing it and it all is working fine. The wiring was really simple.
