Buy some thermal underwear. M&S do good ones.

Son who works on building sites wears both short sleeved thermal vests and what they used to call "long johns" under his work gear all from M&S.

It will make a huge difference and perhaps you won't have to get such thick jumpers.

If you win the lottery or a prize on Premium Bonds then Avoca has some lovely sweaters.  It’s an Irish brand, I bought a gorgeous heavy duty sweater when we were last in Ireland but my husband keeps “borrowing” it.  They do have a website.

I actually used to wear M&S thermals but I found the last pairs I bought to be very poor value for money.  Swapped to government-surplus ex-army thermals (new long-sleeved tops £7 each, long-johns £9) and haven't looked back.  We do live in a very cold house ...
    We're all doomed

Hi OP, did you manage to get yourself a nice jumper?

A very good brand is Woolover.  They are not the cheapest but have lots in their online sale at the moment.

A thermal base layer under any top will keep you warmer than any jumper.
I bought the cheapest Temu top and bottom for less than £10 the pair to wear when I'm walking in the hills on the coldest days
