Spotty cooking apples.

My cooking apples have black spots on them and some of them cause splits in the skin. Not all the apples are affected and the dessert apple trees are not affected. I have given the tree lime in the last two years and plan on giving it a "winter wash". I wondered if it was bitter pit.  The affected apples do not store. Any ideas?

peel, core and cook the good bits.  possibly use them as is to make cider.  or cloudy apple juice.

can't help on the prevention side but have dealt with hundreds of less than perfect apples from mom's orchard.

Looks like Scab to me, compare & contrast here and see what you think. Good news is remedy on the same page, US site so may have stuff not readily available UK. like Bordeaux mixture.  :o

Thanks@Brie. I have processed the  "lumpy bumpy" ones and made masses of chutney, apple sauce, crumbles and apple cake. What is so annoying is that some of the crop is perfect.  Hopefully they will store but the spotty ones go wrinkly very quickly. No point trying to store them.

Thanks @Farway. I am hoping if I give them a spray I might be able to control whatever is the problem. Had hoped to do a winter wash but it has turned very frosty, so it will be a Spring treatment now. Some of the fruit is perfect and the dessert apple trees are not affected.
