Selling a Cartier watch

Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can get the best price for selling a Cartier watch ? It is over 40 years old and I do not have the original box or paperwork. It has been serviced and had regular battery changes from Cartier.
I do not want to sell it via eBay and would rather go into a shop - ideally in the London area

Have you asked Cartier themselves, if they have carried out the services? I think that you are very wise to try to sell it in person rather than eBay.1

What's your priority? You can clearly sell it to a shop that sells secondhand goods but their offer will be low because they need to make a margin, may be a bit better if you take it as store credit rather than cash. Alternatively you can ask for someone that will sell it on consignment, you'll get more but it could take weeks or months before someone buys it. You could put it into auction but thats always a bit of a gamble and they too will take a commission.Jimmithecat said:Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can get the best price for selling a Cartier watch ? Have you retained servicing records?
Most good jewellers will have pre owned goods for sale so look at those near you.
You will not get the best price on ebay or auction without box or paperwork and even then much less than equivalent retail price.

Why not Google secondhand watch shop / auction London and see what comes up.
As others have said unless it's a very rare watch you probably won't get as much as you think. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0
