Argos store card

I have recently received a letter from Argos store card stating that as from January 2026 my account will be closed and any outstanding balance will be wiped off and my account shown as settled. This is due to Argos financial services not managing Argos cards.

Does anyone know if this is true as in effect the letter is saying that I need not make any further payments.

Seems unlikely that they would just walk away from money you owe as well as others as well.  There doesn't appear to be anything about this online but then again why would someone write to you about it?  And there doesn't appear to be anything about this when doing a quick google.

Personally I'd take a look at the official Argos financial services site, find the customer service number and ring them and ask what the situation is.  Possibly they are actually selling the debts to someone else who will be wanting you to continue to pay.

  • I had called the number today and was told the same thing, but as you have mentioned, I found nothing on line to support this. It does all seem a bit 'off' as I can no longer access my account on line.

I'd keep paying for now and then see what happens come January.   There may be more info coming your way.
