Ebay, can I post small items with Royal mail ordinary 2nd class?

Hello Ebay'ers, I have been a customer of Ebay for almost 20 years, I have over 1,400 deals, mostly buys, and a 100% rating.
The wife wants me to try and sell some of my stuff as I am 80 next year, and well...:)
I want to sell some 35mm Kodachrome slides but when I go through the process, I can no longer choose to send things in a small envelope via Royal mail for 87p, posting is by Ebay for £2.72 which is ridiculous for something which may fetch only a fiver.
Can any members suggest a way around this problem? TIA.

If the slides are mounted then I doubt with proper protection that they would fit a letter size rate, I suspect they would be large letter. LL is currently £1.55 2nd class and you can buy a label from ebay direct that has a delivery confirmation number.
What I'm finding is that as long as these are listed under £20 then the system does allow an over ride of simple delivery, I've just done a test run to double check , I knew it worked for postcards as I just sold some, but it also works if I list 35MM slides.
Set up your listing , make sure you choose the LL size for SD and that gives you the option for custom postage. To use custom postage though you need to have business policies in place I think (I do so can't check if it works without) and you just choose your own option.
As above, I would pack carefully and use Large letter size.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
