This boils down to my word against theirs.. so I don't stand a chance but will share my experience here.
My ev car went back to Lex in September a year early having spent 3 ½ months at Kia gathering dust and bird crap waiting for a new battery. (Which never came)
BCA collected the car from Kia late September. Lex agreed to end my contract early.
BCA, after inspecting the vehicle, said the charging cable was missing and wanted to charge me £790 for it. They didn't look in the frunk where I kept it for convenience. I have the inspection video which shows they didn't look there.
I immediately challenged this and suggested they look in the front where they'll find it. This was 24th September.
On 14th November they told me to pay up immediately as the cable 'wasn't where it was supposed to be'.
The car is probably long gone.. or scrapped.. so the moment is lost. I can't prove it was there but I know they never looked for it. If I don't pay up they'll send the boys round.
This is daylight robbery. I'm paying for BCAs laziness and incompetence and it hurts.

I'd be stating the cable was in the car and ask them to prove you didn't return the cable, or at least where in something you signed stated the cable must be in a specific location.

Someone could have removed the cable while it was in the KIA garage or between it being collected and inspected.0

Simply, do not pay.Mortgage free

Do you have evidence the cable was there when you handed the car over to Kia?How much does a used charging cable cost? £790 sounds steep even for a brand new Kia one0

I read recently that the cables were being stolen so there is obviously scrap value. A quick check on Halfords website lists the cost of a replacement cable starts out at £125 - Scrap copper is valuable. How much does a used charging cable cost? £790 sounds steep even for a brand new Kia one
