Just popping back to ask @TravellingAbuela could you please give me your recipe for bacon and lentil soup again. I used yours last year and, obviously, never remembered to keep it or lost it. Many thanks x7

Morning everyone just got in from a cleaning job having a cuppa I need it today I’m absolutely shattered after yesterday in Edinburgh we had a cracking day it was lovely it’s such a beautiful train journey up and I gave a few waves out of the window in case any of you were looking the train both ways was quiet in fact we had the carriage to ourselves coming back and it wasn’t that busy there but when I checked my Fitbit coming back we had walked six and a half miles I had to get out of bed and take a couple of paracetamol at midnight there wasn’t a bone in my body that wasn’t aching and I’m as stiff as a board this morning neither of us spent a penny we didn’t particularly want anything it was just a nice look out and the day flew over I think my days of trailing round shops are over I would rather go and do something or see something some of the big hotels had beautiful decorations outside but the Xmas markets didn’t open up until the night so we never seen them and we never seen a piper but we enjoyed our day out . I will catch up on all your news later DP1 I’m keeping everything crossed little one picks up soon. Ruby I’m sorry about your MIL and FIL be kind to yourself it’s hard work both mentally and physically caring for someone . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Good afternoon
After a sunny but frosty start it's now raining. I didn't get all my jobs done yesterday, so the paintwork washing still needs to be done, but as it's raining it would have only got dirty again. MOT is booked for tomorrow, DH will follow me to the garage, and while it's being tested we will go to the Vets to pick up BDs meds, two birds with one stone.
Belly pork strips with roasties and cauliflower cheese tonight. Would you believe DH only tried cauliflower cheese for the first time last week and decided he likes it. Theres hope for him yet.
Ruby, hope FiL comes home today.
Dp1, more hugs for little one.
Camelot, sorry I've missed you out, but I'm pleased you're recovering well.
Have a good day all, take care.11 -
CHRISCA I hope this is the recipe I gave you as I have a couple similar.
4 streaky bacon rashers, finely chopped
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 small carrot, also finely chopped.
115 gm (4 oz) red lentils
400g can tomatoes
half tsp dried mixed herbs (optional)
approx 850 ml chicken or ham stock (or cubes)
salt and freshly milled black pepper
Can be served as is or liquidised if you prefer smooth, as I do.
Well what a grim and miserable day this turned into. The spits and spots earlier returned as proper rain and turned to sky grey.. It's a bit brighter now but will it last! IZZY that sounds like A Grand Day Out. I've only been to Edinburgh once and that included a performance of the Military Tattoo. It was the end of August and I have never been so cold in all my life! We were frozen stiff with the biting wind swirling under the tiered seating. We then knew who the regular visitors were as they sat there all snug wrapped up in woolly blankets. A lesson learned, albeit a bit too late! x

Thanks for the recipe @TravellingAbuela but from what I remember the one you gave me was lentils, bacon and I think chicken stock and I can't remember if there was anything else. It's mainly the quantities of each ingredient I'm not sure of.5

Thanks for all the good wishes for little one...I saw her his morning as DD picked me up before work so I could stay in the car with her while DD nipped into Tesco for the prescription. She's still not feeling well at all but did manage a little chat, which DD said was an improvement on yesterday.
Izzy I'm pleased you enjoyed your day in Edinburgh, but strange there was no piper on the corner opposite the station.
TA I've saved the soup recipe too...thank you...I'm trying to make soup from proper recipes this winter, instead of just chucking every veg I can find in the pan and hoping it tastes ok
DD said we had a tiny bit of snow this morning but I missed it x

I have frozen in Edinburgh too - bought long underwear while I was there. How they managed to live in that castle without everyone freezing to death, I don't know. Have worn it on every trip back, even in the summer. The year I took my parents, I made sure they had warm clothes too, even though we were going in July.9
