Further charge after receiving a FINAL bill including a refund when switching supplier from OVO

I recently switched from OVO to Outfox. I filled in all of the details as requested by both companies and everything appeared to go smoothly. I am on a smart meter but submitted readings to both parties I received my FINAL bill from OVO on 28 October and there was a refund of £418.27.
Today I received a further bill from OVO without any explanation for £1.56. After a VERY long chat session with OVO they claim that this is due to a discrepancy between meter readings I submitted to OVO and those received from my new supplier Outfox. I had cancelled by direct debit to pay OVO and it took me quite a while to make the payment by credit card - there appeared to be a problem with communication with my card company.
The amount is small but it took a very long time (well over an hour) to get an explanation from OVO as to why I received a further bill AFTER my FINAL bill. As a matter of principle - how can they send me another bill after my FINAL bill?

Don't take it personally - its most likely their computer will have done it without anyone even knowingly.
Was the kWh reading on your final bill (I assume it did say final bill) different to the opening reading on your Outfox bill, or were they the same and you are disputing that you used that energy?
In either case, I'd have pushed for them to write off the small amount.0
