Deed of variation

I recently received an inheritance from my mother which I would like to pass directly on to my two adult daughters. I know I can do this through a solicitor at a price, but wondered if it is safe to do it with a free downloaded form. I am a bit wary of putting all my details out there. It is a very simple estate with no IHT to pay or property. I have already got probate. Can anyone recommend a free downloaded form to use please. Many thanks.

Firstly, do you mean to make a gift of the money/assets directly from yourself to your daughters, or do you mean to vary the terms of your late mother's will, so that, in effect, the gift was made by your mother?
Secondly, how long ago did your mother die?0 -
I didn't bother with downloading a form - just wrote a letter (in accordance with IOV2 Instrument of Variation checklist and Change a will after a death - GOV.UK). I didn't get my letter witnessed, but it would be preferable to do so. You don't have to send the letter anywhere, unless it changes the amount of IHT that is payable - just keep it with your own documents and (if you are the executor) keep it with the original grant of probate.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661
