PCP unwind within 14 day cooling off period

I bought a second hand car online via distance selling. When it arrived, it had damage (deep scratches, cigarette smell) so I immediately contacted the garage and told them I wasn't happy with the quality of the car as it wasn't as described. They agreed to allow me to return it but then dragged their feet organising someone to collect the car (garage is 100 mile from me). Eventually it was picked up and after much pestering, they returned my cash deposit on Saturday and said they would unwind the PCP. I also contacted the finance company straight away to tell them about the unwinding last week. When I called the finance company today to ask if the garage had returned the outstanding money, they said that there was no contact from the garage yet. The finance company won't let me freeze the payments until they get the balance from the garage. How long should this normally take? I now have no car and can't take out another PCP to get another car until this one has been settled. I have very little confidence in the garage as they are purposefully dragging this out. Does anyone have any advice? I'm really stressed out.

Too late now, but my advice to others is to never buy a car without being able to view beforehand. Also, unless the car is some very rare model, always buy locally.1

At least given them a chance if they only took it back on Sat to contact the finance co.
Unwinding the PCP deal, will not remove the maker on your credit history. As it is a matter of fact.
Also think very hard on PCP on a 2nd hand car. If anything happens on the car such as engine fails. You still have to pay the PCP & repair the car, as you can not return the car in a non working state. Which included the balloon payment.
