Faulty TV

Hi, I purchased a Panasonic oled 4k TV Nov 2024 and it came with a Manufacturers 5 year warranty.
11 months in we saw the screen had failed and contacted the manufacturer. They did some tests and arranged an engineer to assess it. The engineer confirmed the screen had failed but Panasonic no longer supply the screen. I was given an "uplift" to replace the TV from my high street supplier. The Supplier has stated it's nothing to do with them but I can have a credit up to the original value of the TV. What I expected was to get the current Panasonic 4k oled TV at no extra cost. Is this being unreasonable??

In such scenarios you have statutory consumer rights with the supplier as well as any warranty separately offered by the manufacturer, so if you chose to go down the latter route then that may be why the supplier is washing their hands of the matter.
Assuming it can't be repaired, you're not entitled to anything more than a full refund, so if that's effectively what you've been offered then take it - you could argue it should be a cash refund if you wanted to go elsewhere but bear in mind that technically you'd only be entitled to the value of a one year old TV rather than a new one....0 -
OP if you are getting the original price paid back then it does sound reasonable.
Have you read what the warranty says for the normal warranty as it is only 11 months old and the extended warranty won't have started I would have thought.

I have just checked the Panasonic warranty terms and it does say an uplift will provide a credit to the value of the original TV purchase, which is what I am being offered.
Thanks all for your comments and info...I guess my expectations were set to high0 -
