Ornamental cherry advice
I had a mature cherry given a well needed trim a year ago with regards to the new shoots this year if I want to keep the size down how much of the new shoots should I trim in spring? All of the new growth or leave a couple of buds or inches on each new shoot?

I've got an ornamental plum so similar.
I prune after flowering and then again in winter. Just lightly. To keep the height and shape I want.
After flowering means you get to enjoy the most flowers and the plant gets time to make more flower buds for next year. So any heavier pruning that's needed
Winter when you can see the branches better and guage the height. Also anything weak or crossing
Remember to prune above an outside bud so the new growth moves outwards and not into the middle.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
