Push-to-open drawers behind kickboard in kitchen

My Christmas project is to create some drawers under my kitchen units. I've been watching a few YouTube videos on the subject and have found a website that sells the runners and flatpack drawers made to size.

I wondered if anyone has done this and has any tips plus other websites that might do drawers like this?

That's not going to work because of the cabinet feet.

What holds the kick board in place?Murmansk said:My Christmas project is to create some drawers under my kitchen units. I've been watching a few YouTube videos on the subject and have found a website that sells the runners and flatpack drawers made to size.

Do you have to construct a box to contain the drawer?0 -
Well, you need extra parts to fix the runners to the legs. I think all kitchen suppliers offer plinth drawer fixing sets as part of their range. Why plywood? Are your other drawers made from plywood too?0

My OH made a lot of those for our daughter in her previous house, every possible cupboard had one. Each sat in its own box between the unit legs. They were not push to open but rather had small handles right up under the cupboard base.
She bought the runners and drawer sides, then her dad made all the boxes and drawers with free sheet material from Ikea. The plinth boards were cut to make the drawer fronts.
IMO the gain in storage space was not that great compared to the work involved as the boxes had to be narrow enough to fit between the unit legs, and if she had had to buy all the other materials it would have worked out quite costly. Also I seem to remember she found items kept in them got a bit dusty. Mainly they were used for storing tinned goods and baking trays.0 -
Well the kickboard is held in place as now, in the relatively few places where I can actually install these drawers the kickboard will be cut and will form the drawer front.35har1old said:

Plan to have a sheet of material on the floor with two "walls" onto which the drawer slides are attached so kind of three quarters of a box0 -
If you do not have a top on the box, the contents will get very dusty. A top will also serve to keep the sides of the box in the correct place.
