Anyone know of anywhere (side street) to park in York, close to the Travelodge in Piccadilly

Not sure where that is but if it's in the town centre you'll find the town council has the parking very tightly sewn up. It's pretty extortionate really, with some of the carparks costing 2 pounds an hour. Parking in side streets, if allowed at all, is limited to one hour and is metered.
I think it's so strict it puts people off and the tourist industry loses trade. They lost ours anyway a couple of weeks ago. We stayed at a hotel out of town and got the bus in but on the last day we couldn't leave the car at the hotel so had to drive into York. The carparks aren't any cheaper on a Sunday and we had very little change. Of course, it's hard to get change on a Sunday and in the end we were so fed up with the situation we cut the holiday short and left early.
A great shame as York's a lovely place.

Think you're going to have to use the multi-storey beside the hotel, my partner stayed there a few weeks ago and it is secure on a night, if you're staying over.
