Fraudster got my email and credit card details.

So some low life somehow got my credit card number and ordered some apple air pods and had them delivered to an address in north london. first I knew of it was when my bank phoned me and asked if I had used my card the previous day at 2am in the morning.
The company they ordered it from sent confirmation to my email address, so consequently I have the fraudsters address, mobile number, and now I also have photo evidence of the item being delivered by royal mail. all of which of course I've now passed onto action fraud, as well as my bank.
not sure how this 'person' got my details but I do know there's some bad ones out there. so please look after your personal details and be carefull.

I saw it as a warning as there was no question, so moved it to the 'and warning' board.born_again said:Not sure it has anything to do with praise & vent either

1 do these people get caught so they can not do it over n over again?
2 how do I stop this happening?
3 has any one here had the same?0 -
1. Some do, some don't. Many fraudsters/scammers are based overseas (with mules in the UK) and most likely are not caught specifically for a specific activity they do in the UK, but if part of an organised crime unit, might eventually get scupperedclive0510 said:

2. Be careful with who and which websites you provide your card/card details to. Fraudsters/scammers don't guess your card details (though there have been cases where "insiders" at financial institutions have sold card details, but this is rare compared to people being a bit lax with who they provide their details to
3. Not me, but i can categorically state that many people have had the same happen to them1 -
I would suggest using a website like HIBP (https://haveibeenpwned.com/) enter your email address and see if your details have been located in a data breach. You can then take precautions accordingly.clive0510 said:So some low life somehow got my credit card number and ordered some apple air pods and had them delivered to an address in north london. first I knew of it was when my bank phoned me and asked if I had used my card the previous day at 2am in the morning.
