In our area, we have to apply to the council for a dropped kerb. They then do it through their contractors and charge you. It is about £400 though.

Same in our area. I would check on your council's website before making any alterations.

As suggested ring the council as they will have set rates for raising/lowering kerbs etc.
Otherwise see who the council uses as a contractor, you may be able to direct.

All I could do when the local council told me how much it would cost was laugh: £1,000. I then asked him who was getting the back-hander!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I paid a couple of chaps £150 5 years ago to do mine. They did a good job. They were building new houses opposite my house and were creating a footpath on the opposite side as well. So all the materials were there already for them to use.

In my area we have to apply & have it done via the council & the charge is £1k +.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Council Contractors only in Southend-on-Sea and they charge you £800 (extortion as you can not get anyone else to carry out the work!)
  • thanks for your replys.
i was told by the bloke that i would need permission of the council,so i will have to make sure you don't have to use their contractors.
