Smart Parking hit with CCJ (over £3,300) after 5-year wrongful pursuit – my experience
Hi all,
I wanted to share a success story which might give confidence to others being unfairly pursued by private parking firms.
Back in 2020 I received a Parking Charge Notice from Smart Parking. I was not the driver, and I told them this immediately. Despite that, they:
-
Continued to process and use my personal data
-
Sent repeated demands
-
Passed my details to CST Law and later DCB Legal
-
Re-opened the matter years later after it had been closed
-
Ignored clear evidence and correspondence
This went on for nearly five years, and the stress and time wasted became disproportionate. I kept very detailed records of everything, including the time and cost of responding to their repeated communications.
Eventually, after they continued processing my data even after acknowledging I wasn’t the driver, I issued a claim on the Money Claim Online (new Beta) system for:
-
Unlawful data processing
-
Harassment
-
My documented time/costs arising from their conduct
Smart Parking failed to file a Defence with the court before the deadline.
Because of that, the court granted me Default Judgment today, 13 November 2025 for:
-
Over £3,100 (damages + interest)
-
Over £200 in costs
Total: Over £3,300
This is now a legally enforceable County Court Judgment (CCJ) against Smart Parking Ltd, payable forthwith.
Posting this because:
-
You can fight back when parking companies misuse your data and harass you.
-
The new Money Claim Online system works smoothly and clearly.
-
These companies often rely on people giving up — but if you stay procedural and reasonable, they can be held accountable.
-
Keep records of everything.
-
Don’t be intimidated by solicitor letters — the court looks at actions, not threats.
Happy to answer questions about the process if it helps others.

They may well apply to set it aside . If they dont and they dont pay then a high court writ.
Be funny if you use dcbl but they wont touch it
Use this lot for the writ https://hcegroup.co.uk/3 -
