When Smart Parking chased me for 5 years even after knowing I wasn’t the driver, I took them to court "won" and now they owe me over £3,300.

Hi all,

I wanted to share a success story which might give confidence to others being unfairly pursued by private parking firms.

Back in 2020 I received a Parking Charge Notice from Smart Parking. I was not the driver, and I told them this immediately. Despite that, they:

  • Continued to process and use my personal data

  • Sent repeated demands

  • Passed my details to CST Law and later DCB Legal

  • Re-opened the matter years later after it had been closed

  • Ignored clear evidence and correspondence

This went on for nearly five years, and the stress and time wasted became disproportionate. I kept very detailed records of everything, including the time and cost of responding to their repeated communications.

Eventually, after they continued processing my data even after acknowledging I wasn’t the driver, I issued a claim on the Money Claim Online (new Beta) system for:

  • Unlawful data processing

  • Harassment

  • My documented time/costs arising from their conduct

Smart Parking failed to file a Defence with the court before the deadline.

Because of that, the court granted me Default Judgment today, 13 November 2025 for:

  • Over £3,100 (damages + interest)

  • Over £200 in costs

    Total: Over £3,300

This is now a legally enforceable County Court Judgment (CCJ) against Smart Parking Ltd, payable forthwith.

Posting this because:

  1. You can fight back when parking companies misuse your data and harass you.

  2. The new Money Claim Online system works smoothly and clearly.

  3. These companies often rely on people giving up — but if you stay procedural and reasonable, they can be held accountable.

  4. Keep records of everything.

  5. Don’t be intimidated by solicitor letters — the court looks at actions, not threats.

Happy to answer questions about the process if it helps others.

The address for Smart Parking as per their contact us page of their website is:

    Smart Parking Limited
    Unit 43,
    Elmdon Trading Estate,
    Bickenhill Lane,
    Birmingham,
    B37 7HE

This is mirrored by an email directly from them stating:

    "[...] all correspondence should be sent to;

    Smart Parking Ltd
    Unit 43 Elmdon Trading Estate
    Bickenhill Lane
    Marston Green
    Birmingham
    B37 7HE

Whilst the address in Perth is where our business is registered, all correspondence is dealt with via our Birmingham address [...]"

  • This is brilliant! Hope they just pay up!

Presumably you told them who the driver was?
