DHL import duty and VAT error

I ordered a camera from Japan on ebay. I received a message on my answer machine from DHL giving me the tracking number and amount owed £53.75. I went to the DHL website, entered the tracking number and paid £53.75.

This morning I received an email from DHL with a different tracking number for the same amount £53.75.

I have spoken to online chat, who gave me a premium number to call as they coukd not help. I spent £5 talking to someone who said he could do nothing, I should contact the seller (I am waiting the sellers reply).

But I think that somehow DHL have have messed up. But I have no idea how to resolve the issue but to pay another £53.75.

Update:
DHL Japan (yes DHL UK were no help), said it was their fault and would contact DHL UK to issue a refund, they said that I should also contact DHL UK to let them know. Of course DHL UK didn't want to know and suggested I call another number who may help. I asked about my telephone costs, they suggested that I call a different number or email the complaints department with proof of costs. 

DHL UK totally useless.
