Paid for house insurance twice by mistake

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice? It looks like I somehow managed to pay for house insurance twice last year.  I have no idea how I managed to do it and I only noticed it now as I was renewing for some new house insurance for the next year.  I have canceled both renewals for the two old house insurances and gone with a different provider for next year.  I am assuming I just have to hold my hands up and take it on the chin as it was my mistake, but is there anyway I can claim some partial refund from either provider?  Thank you in advance.

If it had been with one provider (unlikely) then maybe, but two different insurers almost certainly not. The coverage would have been legitimate although any claims might have been complicated.

So you didnt pay for it twice as much as having two separate policies?

Often insurers are more forgiving than you'd have thought and fairly often they will refund 50% of the premiums given claims would have been shared... if they were being accurate it would be under 50% given things like advertising costs and referral fees would still have been paid in full on both.

Realistically they are more likely to be sympathetic to a customer that has stuck around than one that has already left them
