A bit more information may be useful - do you have a website address? But you're right to be suspicious - spelling or grammar mistakes on official communications is often a red flag. Most reputable companies will take great care to ensure any customer-facing communications are free of errors. For what it's worth, I can't seem to find any reference to them on Companies House either.....2

Looks like "vanity publishing" and appears to be a subsidiary of an Italian publisher, hence no reference at Companies HouseIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales2

Emails from them:
Hello,
My name is Louise Rae and I deal with the Author's that we chose for the UK Market and also deal with the contract.
I have been off for personal reasons, however, I shall write you a detailed reply this afternoon/evening.
Thank you for your understanding and in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Again, this evening, I shall explain the payment plans.
I remain fully at your disposal.
Yours,
Louise Rae
Hello there,
As promised I am now writing to you to answer your questions. Thank you for your patience.
In regards to your cover price it is 22.50£. The book is nearly 900,000 characters long and this is the reason for the price.
Your royalties are stated in the contract at 10% but at this price point we up them to 15%.
You will have a dedicated team with you from start to finish.
Also keeping your copyright, rights and secondary and subsidiary rights, allows for foreing houses to offer you contracts in foreign languages. If this occurs, you shall receive the contract and all monies made are 100% yours. We will represent and present your book to foreign houses but we take nothing. This is allowing the book to reach further and into foreign languages which the book really deserves.
Regading a payment plan, we can offer longer and easier installments. We can offer ten installments. The book will be worked on whilst the payments are made and shall be published after the last payment is made. If you did decide for longer easier installments, this would be perfect for the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair that focuses on the UK and English speaking market, so catapulting in and then also Christmas!
Would this be something that is accessible to you?
I remain fully at your disposal for any further clarification, questions or feedback you may have. Please contact me directly and I shall respond swiftly.
Best regards,
Louise Rae
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Sicard said:From http://www.europebooks.co.uk/rules-for-a-quality-co-production/ it looks like you have to pay an upfront fee, which you get back if the book sells enough copies. On that basis, I suspect they will accept anything that looks publishable. If the book sells well, they get their cut. If it doesn't, they keep your fee.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Publishers make money for their authors; vanity publishers make money from their authors. It's not impossible for an author with a vanity publisher to make a net gain, but it's highly unlikely.
A small number of vanity publishers operate in good faith and you know what you're getting into. Most don't, and will take your money and deliver little or nothing in return. This site is a grim example of the latter. It doesn't even make the effort to appear anything other than a scam.
If you want to publish then either do it yourself or get yourself an agent. Getting an agent is fiendishly difficult but there's nothing stopping you from publishing your own book, either in digital format or print or both.

I'd vote for DIY. It's really not hard to do with a bit of patience.
My husband tried for some years to find an agent and/or a publisher but- despite interest- never quite succeeded. He's since self-published four non-fiction books plus two books of poetry and has had very decent sales.1 -

How did he get the books into bookshops, by himself or by using a distribution company? You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.
