ESA - IR or CB? Free Prescription Query
sis
Hello everyone I’m just after some
clarification. I was placed in the support group in 2017 but have assumed I am not entitled to free prescriptions and have recently been advised to double check by a friend.
ive looked at my letter and I’m none the wiser as both income related and contribution are mentioned. I do receive the Christmas bonus.
if anyone can look at my letter and clarify whether I can get free prescriptions that would be great.
thank you

This is contributions based ESA and doesn’t entitle you to free prescriptions. Are you claiming any other benefits such as Universal Credit?1

The letters are confusing.
Due to the amount you receive plus the Christmas Bonus, odds are your ESA is CB only.
The only way you can be sure is to call ESA and ask.1 -

It's definitely contribution based only. If it was income related in any way it would be at least £21.20 more per week (with the enhanced disability premium, sometimes known as the Disability Income Guarantee).2
