Statute Barred accounts with fees owed!!

Hi All

I have 2 old accounts with a little bit owed on overdrafts. Both accounts are with the same bank, 1 personal acc and the other a sole trader.

When I did a SAR, it transpired that the bank sent me 4 cheques, 2 from each account. 2 cheques were for £50 each as good will gestures during a difficult period!!! And the other 2 were for a couple of hundred pounds each for overcharged fees.

Would I be shooting myself in the foot by asking for these cheques to be re-issued or should I leave alone?

No i dont. I didnt cash them incase in doing so it somehow admitted my ownership of the debt

How long ago were they issued?
If over 6 years they might not have the data to look into this for you - and I can't see them issuing new cheques on your say so.

Secondly how much did you owe when they were closed off?
If they can show what the outstanding balance was - they MIGHT take the value of reissued cheques to cover some/all of that balance.

My honest opinion leave it - if you are less than 6 years into this.
