Evri parcel shown as delivered but actually lost

I'm at my wits end with Evri!!

I sold an item on eBay and against my better judgement decided to use Evri for the delivery. I printed the label and dropped it off at my local parcel shop and that's where the fun started

The delivery was to a parcel shop but it failed a few times and in the end couldn't be delivered. It was at that point Evri decided that because it had failed they would send it back to me.

The problem I have now is that according to them it's been delivered somewhere but the I don't have it and neither does the buyer. I can't get any detailed tracking information to find out where it went without entering the postcode but none of the ones I think it can be work.

Where I stand now:
  • The buyer said they didn't receive it and got a refund from eBay
  • Evri have told eBay it's been delivered so they can't help me
  • Evri say it's been delivered but I didn't get it and don't know where it is
  • None of the tracking references I have work anymore so the chat and phone number are useless
  • I can't talk to a person without more information.
I'm very close to reporting it as theft to the Police but if they don't attend a burglary why would the bother about my parcel

Any ideas will be much appreciated

No point in reporting it to the Police. Who exactly could you accuse of theft?

Was it done using Ebay Simple delivery?

Op says they decided to use evri so doesn't sound like simple delivery.
However if it wasn't then I don't think ebay would just refund the buyer straight away, but only if you haven't responded to the not received report.
If op entered the details manually on evri was it exactly the same as the address supplied by ebay?
It sounds as though the evri driver has marked it as delivered even though the shop weren't able to confirm receipt, it may have been returned and could make its way back to you.
