Ryanair flyer? Home-printed boarding passes won't be accepted from 12 November

Suspect not but as already said you can share boarding passes from the app and have been able to do this for ages.G3R5K said:Can you still download the boarding pass as a pdf?
I usually book for the family and then share the pdfs through Whatsapp so everyone has their own.
The pass scanners have always accepted the QR code in any format so not sure how they will enforce that it has to be digital, but does it HAVE to be the Ryanair app or will any digital format do?1 -
Article by Simon Calder this morning in the Independent about the first day of the new policy, some contributors will be gutted to hear he had absolutely no issue asking for a paper boarding pass and being given one. Seems to have gone smoothly.1

So Simon Calder, possibly the most recognisable Travel Journalist in the UK, travelling from Ryanair's busiest hub on day one of the new system had no problems?
Remarkable.
Strange he couldn't find another "print at airport" punter to interview, maybe they're still at Stansted.

I wanted to test out the "don't need internet access" part of this. Sainsbury's have implemented their Nectar as a QR alternative. So I put the Google wallet app on my phone. Saved the Nectar QR into it & when I was next in Sainsbury's I turned off internet access so I had none.
QR scanned just fine at the self checkout & points went on. Feel a bit more comfortable for when we fly with Ryanair next year, but I've NO real clue what I was doing!
At least we've picked our seats, so I can start mucking about with this from 60 days before return flight (when I can do outbound & inbound at the same time). I got my husband on my booking as well, so not sure how the Google wallet will determine whose QR each one will be. Mine, his, outbound, inbound
Give me paper tickets any day! Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
The boarding passes show the same information within Google Wallet as they do when printed (or viewed in the app), so it's straightforward to see flight routing, passenger name and assigned seat, as well as flight number, date, etc.SevenOfNine said:I got my husband on my booking as well, so not sure how the Google wallet will determine whose QR each one will be. Its all the same info from the Ryanair app.0 -
I always use Paper boardings passes
1 They are generally quicker at the airport, whilst other people are fiddling around with their phone
2 I print for all that are flying
3 I have the passes kept secure at my location (what if you lost your phone, how would you get home) it keeps me aware of return flight times
4 No idea what the advantage for Ryanair is
5 Its assume everybody in the world has a smart phone
I have taken Ryanair flight often but this not very customer friendly !!

To drive traffic to the Ryanair app. Every time you go into the Ryanair app there's a chance you might spend more money. Either buy a new flight, add extras to your existing flight, buy ancillary services etc.paperperson said:4 No idea what the advantage for Ryanair is1 -

Take your time scrolling through each one when going to board the aircraft. If everyone does that then Ryanair may realise just how stupid this paperless idea is.somerset_phil said:My family and I are flying with RyanAir on Saturday. I will have the 3 boarding passes on my Ryanair app. I've asked Ryanair how i transfer boarding passes to my family but nil response!
Well said Neil, however my feeling is it would just give Ryanair an excuse to find another way of extorting money from the passenger. My advice for what it is worth fly a decent airline which in my view does not include Ryanair or Wizzair!0 -
Just back from Cyprus - PFO to MANWe used our paper boarding passes to ...Open gate to securityBuy drink from the shopGet from departure lounge to boarding gate (but " we only allow paper till the end of this month" she said)At the top of the plane steps as we were first on!0
