Gym Cancellation

Hi
I’m after an advice for gym cancellation
I had written via email in February this year to gym saying that I’m unhappy with the services and I wanted to cancel. I have proof of this email to valid address. I had tried contacting them via their app, telephone calls and finally had written email
I had no response from them via the email and now they have involved third party and asking for the membership fee for all the months until now.
It seems that certain gyms are very contactable whilst trying to get the membership but make it really hard to quit.

What can I do if they’ve not sent me any response via email?

OP I assume you have proof of sending the email?
What do the membership terms say about 1) how to cancel 2) notice period (ignore 2 if you've paid for any notice period). In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
What do the terms and conditions say about how you can cancel? Is there a notice period? Sometimes this is 3 months, even if you're not in a fixed term contract. When did you stop paying?
If your contract says you have to cancel by post or in person then in theory at least doing it by e-mail isn't enough.0 -

Were you in any minimum membership period?
Given the gym is, presumably, close to where you live (or work), you have used various communication methods (e-mail, telephone, app) but not the most obvious which would have been to drop into the gym and speak with someone at reception to advise you were cancelling your membership.
Particularly given that you had no response to the app / phone / e-mail contact, to go and speak with them would have been an obvious step, IMO.
Did you receive any communication from the gym between February and now about the missed payments?0 -
I had finished the minimum period of 12 months of fixed contract and was beyond that period
No I didn’t meet them in person as was really frustrated with them. Not received a reply to the email which I had sent.I’ve asked for proof of the email which the third party says that the gym had sent.0 -
By third-party, presumably the gym has passed it on to some sort of debt collection agency?gymbraker said:I had finished the minimum period of 12 months of fixed contract and was beyond that period

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
