Council claiming they can't put letters in large print

Fed up of complaining about this issue every single time I get a letter from my council and nothing changes despite promises that they'll sort it

The font is too feint which means a magnifying glass won't help

I spoke to my councillor this year and he spoke to the council. I received a letter from them in large print. But on Wednesday they sent me a letter in a format I can't read

What are my options now? I'm bored of complaining about the same issue over and over and then being told they'll sort it and they don't. I've sent back the letter I received from them on Wednesday and wrote that I can't read it which they've known about for the last 10 years

They claim their software doesn't allow them to change the print. They did apparently put a note on my account to say to put in large print

Use the tools available to you e.g contact your local councillor(s), your MP, local newspapers, sight impairment organisations et c to drum up support and to put pressure on your Council.

My local Council provides communications in large print for registered blind and partially sighted residents. You need to contact the relevant council service or their main general enquiries team to set your communication preference.
    Are you registered blind?

Your council should have an equalities officer, contact them.  All communications should be made available in alternative formats on request.

Every council should have a Complaints team that deals with any complaint about the Council.  Try sending them a letter.  There should be details of how to contact them on their website or use the address you have used before and just put “ Complaints Department” as the team name.

Or the Local Government Organisation might be able to help:

I don’t know if RNIB would help you to fight your corner 0303 123 9999 or your local sight loss organisation.

Some Adult Social Care teams have staff who specialise in supporting those with sight loss and they would probably know what needs to be done to ensure every letter sent is in large print.

Ask them to email the letter to you and maybe the software you use to help you use the internet will allow you to increase the size and make it readable.  Alternatively can you email it to yourself?
