Assuming he has at least one hand-held game playing or listening device, my advice would be spare batteries! You MAY be able to plug things in for re-charging, but I suspect that technically you're not supposed to unless it has a recent PAT sticker on it.

I'm not sure what else to suggest for an 11 year old: he might say he doesn't need his teddy, but maybe you will feel the need to take it in case you want something to cuddle? I'm sure I would.

Hi I wanted to reserrect this thread for myself.

Just got the go ahead for my DS (11) to go into B'ham for a week for telemetry, so he can't move around much.

I wouldn't worry about taking too much for him to do.

We've just spent 10 days at Manchester Childrens Hospital and there are plenty of things available for children of that age.

They should have a collection of DVD's & a dvd/tv player for him to watch. There were playstations and stuff which could be wheeled to the bedside.

If its like Manchester they also have teachers there who can loan a laptop or give them school work. The poor woman was more unpopular than the nurses taking blood laughing-smiley-014.gif

Hope it all goes ok xxx (i'm so glad to have my bed back :) )
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

    I've been Money Tipped!
the ward we used to play in had a huge cupboard full of consoles/games/dvds for patient use, plus adequate TV's on trolleys to take to bedside.

If taking ready meals for yourself, try them first at home. I had a couple of microwave pots and one of them really minged, so I went hungry.

Turn right out of the main entrance and keep walking for Tesco.

All the best for the stay.
