Rebel Energy/Oriel Collections
I received an estimated bill from Rebel energy in August. It was relating back to March/April when they ceased trading. I am now being pursued by Oriel debt collection. But I have told them repeatedly that the estimate was much higher than the real reading. I have sent them a picture of the meter in November 2024 and September 2025 (the readings are the same because the property was empty) but they are saying they need a picture of the reading in March/April 2025 and wont accept my readings. Surely they can work out that the April reading would have been the same as the two others if no electricity is being used? Has anyone else taken on Oriel?

You don't need to "take them on", just refer them back to your previously supplied meter reading, pointing out that a reading from eight months later cannot be lower than the previous reading. Eventually it will get referred back to a nom-idiot and resolved. Also pointing out that if it even went to court no magistrate or judge would ever side with them on the basis that they cannot evidence there is a valid debt.Jaycee88 said:I received an estimated bill from Rebel energy in August.
