First ever PCN - advice needed

Hi all,
So received a letter this morning from Parkingeye for my first ever PCN for an Asda carpark. The issue date is 31/10/2025, so I basically have a week left before the discounted fine jumps from £60 to £100. The "event" date is 28/10/2025.

Basically, I was making an out-of-town trip, so I wasn't familiar with the area. I stopped in a retail park which included an Asda superstore to pick up a sandwich and visit some other shops in the local vicinity by foot. One of the stores I visited had a lot of difficulty with me making the purchase of a display item which basically pushed me over the 3-hour limit of the car park by 45 minutes.
Annoyingly the sandwich I purchased from Asda was done with cash to get change for car parking at my eventual destination and the other store I made the purchase from isn't actually on the retail park itself, so I don't think they'd have any influence over the PCN.
Do I have any options here?
All I can think to do is email Asda and ask them for leniency as I'm actually a regular customer at my local Asda store at home.

Asda won't be the car park operators. However, the common best advice is to contact the store and show you made a purchase and were delayed and ask them to instruct the PPC to cancel it.The PCN will be a notice to keeper, so any dealings with the PPC should not identify the driver (no "I went", "I drover", etc.).
The good folks in this group will be able to advise on templates for replies.1 -
I don't have any proof of purchase. I just spoke to customer services on the phone at the store and they weren't too forgiving saying they have the 3 hour policy in place to prevent people abusing it for events (it's close to a football stadium). They just kept telling me to talk to Parkingeye to appeal.prowla said:Asda won't be the car park operators. However, the common best advice is to contact the store and show you made a purchase and were delayed and ask them to instruct the PPC to cancel it.The PCN will be a notice to keeper, so any dealings with the PPC should not identify the driver (no "I went", "I drover", etc.).

You don’t need proof of purchase but if the store won’t listed then maybe try the Head Office. If you are a regular Asda customer, even at another store, then use that when you contact the HOLesh_2 said:

Thanks, I've drafted an email to send to ceo@asda.co.uk tomorrow morning. I'm a regular Asda customer so have screenshots from my credit card app to show transactions from the last month at my local store. Really hope they show me some leniency.Jame4ters said:

Yeah, I did and normally I'm exactly the same regarding credit card but his time I specifically used a £10 note to get some change for the parking meter at my final destination......ironic, I know.prowla said:Lesh_2 said:
