0% balance transfer rate at an end...

My 0% balance transfer rate is coming to an end with Barclaycard. I've just done a quick check on here to see if anyone else might give me a 0% balance transfer card for me to transfer my outstanding Barclaycard balance to, and the MSE eligibility checker has come up with nothing.

Meanwhile, I keep getting letters from Barclaycard offering me 0% interest on balance transfers... So, my question is: can I transfer my balance out of Barclaycard to another card (sadly not 0%) and then transfer it back to my Barclaycard account to get the 0% on new transfers?

I know there'll be transfer fees involved, but if I can't get a 0% balance transfer offer from elsewhere, it might be the best option long term?

Thanks for any thoughts.

See if you qualify for a MBNA type card that offers fee free switching for say 5% or 10% APR.

You use that in the middle and pay a few days interest, but much cheaper than paying say 4% of balance plus another 4% of balance to switch.

Yes, you can bounce it around as many times as you want.

Barclays may even offer you a Cash Transfer offer and so in theory, if you are low enough against the limit, you could just transfer it to your current account and pay it back to your credit card to clear the former one but you still have to pay the fee
  • Brilliant, thank you both for those ideas.

Or you could even transfer the balance to one of you normal cards charging 25% or so but who won't charge a balance transfer fee then transfer back to BC after a few days

That would work in principle, but only if the "normal" card has a BT offer running.  You can't normally transfer a balance from one card to another - the Balance Transfer facility is a specific offer.  Yes, many cards do offer BT's every so often, but if there's no offer running currently then you can't just transfer a balance from another card.
