UK insurance limited

I recently have been trying to lease a new car but my credit score is in the poor sector. I have paid off all my debts beginning of this year, or so I thought. When I downloaded my credit report I noticed I owe £875 to UK insurance limited from 2020. I was confused why I’d never heard of this company or why I didn’t have any emails/ letters demanding the money. Upon doing a google I found Churchill/ direct line where underneath this company so I rang both of them and neither of them had my name on file after the initial “what’s the car registration/ insurance policy number” and me responding with “I’ve no idea it was 5 years ago” I contacted Experian directly as well to see if they could shed some light from their side. This was back in September and I’ve heard nothing. I feel like I’m going round in circles. If I owe money then I want to pay it off to get my credit score up, and if it’s fraudulent then it needs removing from my account but I don’t know how to proceed. Has anyone else had any similar issues?

Just a start date, with no date of default, well regardless of what the debt was, it should be automatically removed from your credit file once the system updates after July 2026.
Wouldn`t worry too much about your imaginary credit score, it may be having a detrimental affect on your credit worthiness as an outstanding debt, but that will improve in time.
If you don`t know what the debt is, and no one is writing to you asking for money, then there is precious little more you can do about it unfortunately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
