Accidental Underpayment of Minimum Payment

Hi! - I used an automated telephone payment service to pay the minimum payment of £55 pounds off my wifes credit card.
Unfortunately, when the statement arrived it had a LATE PAYMENT PENALTY of £12 because I accidentally paid £50.55 which was actually a short fall not a late payment.
We are now concerned that this mistake is going to affect our credit rating. I spoke to the Card Company and they said that they cannot adjust this and they can only give the Credit Agency information as read!
How infuriating is this??!!..Can anybody suggest how this mistake can be rectified?..
Many thanks!

You can only phone them again and say how its the first time, honest mistake etc and maybe they will refund the £12.
However it likely they will leave the late payment entry on her credit file but a single late payment wont do much harm to her credit rating.0 -
if its the 1st time & you've not been late before etc etc, hopefully they will refund it.
Good luck

I wouldn't worry about this too much as it will have an insignificant effect on your credit worthiness. I would also be VERY surprised if it was reported to the CRA's as a late payment.
As for the late payment fee I'd call and explain the circumstances and offer to pay the shortfall immediately over the phone. You're more than likely get the £12 refunded on a goodwill basis if this is totally out of character for your account.0 -
I would have thought you would get half of the fee back. Direct debit is the way forward.0
