MSE Forum Poll: What day of the week does your household typically do its main food shop?

Our shopping habits are constantly changing when it comes to how we get our groceries.
Supermarkets are offering more online shopping and home deliveries, stores are increasing the use of self check-outs/scan and go and there isn't even an Eastenders omnibus window on Sunday afternoons to guarantee a quiet shopping window anymore. :-(
So when do you do your big shop? Cast your vote in this week's poll!
(And if you've got top tip on how you time your shop, let us know in the comments below.)

When we need a few things, we go shopping.
When we do decide to go, if it turns out that we also need quite a lot of other things, it becomes a "big shop".
If only we were organised enough to have a specific day of the week!
• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.2 -
I get paid monthly and i split the month leading to my next payday into a number of 7/8 day periods and we go on the first day of each of those periods. The result is that the day we go shopping on rolls along, being either the same day as the previous week or the subsequent one. We also fill the car up with petrol on the first day of the period so we know the remaining money for that period is just fun money.0

Our home life is so hectic that we don't have a regular day. We get a few bits of shopping in when we can, but when all the major things run out we do a big shop. We have started getting it delivered but I don't like it as much, as sometimes we run out of things before we can organise and wait for a delivery0

I shop for things needed when returning from being out and about.
Mainly because I've gone from shopping from supermarkets, the rise in prices, stuff in large packages and drop in quality there.
I've now gone back to buying from what is left of our local shops.
If I'm buying less I want quality and that's now the same price, often cheaper because I'm not paying for huge staffing and transport costs.
We are also now paying to cover the huge cost of shoplifting and the security involved. It's a tourist area.
Also buying exactly the quantity I need.
Local meat, honey, cakes made without additives etc.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I get to the supermarket before 9.00am and it's quiet. The downside is that the shelves haven't always been fully stocked.0

Online shop usually for a Wednesday delivery. Pop out on a Saturday after Gardeners’ World for fresh fruit and veg plus anything missing from the delivery. I’ve been getting deliveries for about 20 years now.0

I shop in store roughly every 9 - 14 days, occasionally we need to grab a few bits before we do the next main shop. The day I go is usually decided by what else I'm doing that week, either tagging shopping on to another journey or avoiding a day when I'm busy. We have good amount of stores in the cupboard which enables us to be flexible.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

We used to split the shop between Wednesday and Friday mornings across the 2 sides of town but when the plague struck we chose Wednesday as it seemed the quieter day and we never had to queue like seen on the TV and have kept that way since. We can get Tesco. Lidl, Home Bargains & Asda - in that order - done and home by 10.30 latest. We do go to Iceland every few weeks on a Tuesday for the discount.0

We are far too variable to have a day for a big shop. We try to limit vehicle use, so do small top-up shops on foot. Then when some things we want from the big supermarket run low, and the list is growing we fit in a big shop.
We try to time it to fit in with another use for the vehicle, like visiting relatives, which depends on their schedule as well.
While not having a day, we do have a time. Supermarkets we use often run low on stock later in the day, so we usually go there around 9:30 to get the best choice.0
