in Credit cards
I have a 0% credit card with a £1,800 balance which won't be paid off before card ends in January 26. Would like to shift debt to new 0% card if possible. Should I apply for new card now or wait till nearer the expiry date? Thanks for help.

I'd be tempted to leave it until a couple of weeks before the deal expires - you may as well make the most of your 0% period. The application process doesn't take long, and if you're accepted it shouldn't take more than about a week for the new card to get activated.Of course, you need to have a contingency plan for if you can't get another 0% deal. Hopefully you will, but you can't guarantee it.1

How certain are you that you will be given a new card with a high enough limit to clear the one with the deal ending in January?
Why not try cutting down on your spending now to clear as much as possible so if you get a lower limit card (or none at all) it's easier to manage.
There may also be the possibility that your current card might offer a 0% money transfer once the current deal ends and you could use that to pay into your bank account and then clear the BT that at that point will be accruing interest.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
