Dell Inspiron laptop power supply failure rate?

My partner bought a Dell Inspiron 3510 laptop in March 2022. The original power supply started to fail March this year after 3 years. It wouldn't charge the battery and the light on the supply didn't come on at all. However, if the supply was left unplugged for a few minutes it worked again for a number of days and then failed again.
She bought a another genuine Dell power supply from Amazon in March. Last month after about 6 months use this failed with the same symptoms. Thinking it might be a battery issue she plugged in the original supply and this worked fine. Therefore the replacement was sent back for a refund as being faulty.
Roll on another couple of weeks to today and the original supply has failed again. This time I checked the output of the supply and it is only 10v, not the 19v it should be. I also checked the startup bios screen and this said no power supply was plugged in when it was actually plugged in.
She's ordered another supply.
Are Dell power supplies that unreliable? Or, does her habit of using it off the mains supply all the time contribute to the failure?
He previous Dell laptop bought in 2010 was used in exactly the same way until 2022 and is still using its original supply.

I've not had a problem with mine. It's plugged in all the time at home and rarely used on battery only.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Not sure you can get genuine Dell power supplies on Amazon.
Even Dell's own Amazon shopfront doesn't sell them.

This is what we ordered, twice now. Funny thing is when you link from the Dell storefront it takes you to a 3rd party supplier.

Storefronts on Amazon aren't run by the brand. Amazon just gathers together items from that brand into one place with links to the regular listings where the goods are sold by whoever is selling them. You won't find Dell actually selling anything on Amazon. All Dell products on Amazon are sold by Amazon themselves or other third parties.uknick said:This is what we ordered, twice now. Are you saying it's fake? If so, I'll return it and complain to Amazon they're selling fakes items through what is a fake storefront. I'll then buy the power supply direct from Dell, now I've found it on their UK website.outtatune said:

It's hard to say just from the images, it's possible that it's genuine, but that marketplace store isn't exactly screaming 'authorised Dell reseller'.uknick said:

Dell has a community forum, if you post details of what you bought on there someone may be able to check if it's genuine.0 -
Can you use a type C charger on that model?0

You could try eBay second hand as people tend to dispose of their laptops when they fail and try and sell the charger on eBay0
