European passport based on parents

Hi... Looking for a bit of guidance. And not sure where to post
Friend of mine had a Lithuanian mother and Austrian father. They fled to the UK in the war where they met. My friend was born in the UK and has a UK passport.
He is starting to look into trying trace his parents and prove where they are from with the idea to try and get his EU passport. Obviously a lot of records were lost in the war
Are there any companies out there who do these sort of investigations /services?
Thanks

There are companies that specialise in this sort of research. They will also handle the admin for you. There are also active groups on social media who helpfully answer queries, probably in other places too. I found answers to a similar question but focussing on Poland on reddit.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Forum Ambassadors are not moderators and don't read every post. My half brother has am Austrian passport as his grandparents had to flee the Nazis. He got it last year under a reparation scheme they're offering.
He did it himself and wasn't very complicated. This website explains the scheme:
