No chance of a refund for me. I actively make sure my credit is refunded in full any time I switch suppliers.

I normally wait for them to miss the 10 day refund window and then chase them for compo if they haven't paid up

Surely it's not compo? Isn't it just the credit you have overpaid?

Thanks. Is that after the 6 weeks waiting time to receive the final bill? I've just switched and won't be so quick off the mark to ask for my credit to be refunded.

    From the ofgem website:

Our guaranteed standards make sure you quickly get final bills and money owed after closing an account.

If suppliers breach a standard they must compensate you. We monitor supplier data to make sure they do this.

    Suppliers have:

six weeks from a switch to send a final bill
10 working days from a final bill to refund a credit balance
10 working days from identifying a standards breach to automatically compensate you. They could owe a further £40 if they don’t meet the compensation timeline.

Thanks for that. Looks like I've been doing it wrong by proactively making sure I got a timely refund.

As these people are clearly not missing the funds.
Instead of the proposed writing off, of debts & charging honest paying users £5 to cover it.
Just allow suppliers to use the £240 Million to write off these debts.

Yet again we are seeing no personal responsibility to check you are getting what you were due.
    Life in the slow lane
