Annual travel insurance - do I need to declare an injury sustained mid year

Basically I have an annual travel insurance policy which I bought in April, but broke my ankle recently and have a trip coming up (which I am still able and planning to take despite the crutches - it's just going to be a lot slower paced). Am I still covered? Do I need to tell my insurance company about the ankle break?
I've had a read through my docs and it's not clear to me, and I'm hoping someone can tell me where to look for a definitive answer to avoid spending hours on the phone to the insurer

The normal requirement is that you need to inform your insurers as soon as is practicably possible of any illness/injury sustained or changed that involved speaking to a medical professional and/or medication/treatment0

Most insurers require that you’re “fit to travel.” If your doctor says you’re medically fit to go — even if you’re on crutches — then that usually satisfies the requirement, so recommend getting a doctors note or letter confirming it.
Personally, I probably declare it just in case something occurred as a result of the ankle and they deny paying out the claim.
It is however a new medical condition, after you took out the annual policy, so you would hope they will cover it and just require some confirmation that you ok to travel.0 -
Yes, you should declare it to make sure you're covered and there is no reason the insurer can decline a claim related or otherwise.
I recently took out a new travel insurance policy online. I called the company to declare that the OH had injured his knee and that the physio said that the discomfort was due to inflammation. They said that, if it had resolved within 8 weeks, it didn't need to be declared.
LV is the only company I have come across that doesn't need to be updated about new conditions until renewal.0 -
Check the policy to see if broken bones have to be reported, assuming you have no other condition which you have had to declare. The caveat to that is that many policies have a question along the lines of 'Have you attended an appointment at GP or hospital in the past x months'.Simplest way should be to phone the insurer, but the automated system used by my travel insurance provider is a nightmate.0
