Hi all, hoping some of you can offer advice or experience.

I am looking at buying a Mazda CX5 2013 2.2 SKYACTIV-D Sport Nav 4WD with 132k miles, the dealer cannot evidence service history. There are no advisories on the recent MOT (October 2025). The price is £2590, the car looks in great condition inside and out with no warning signs on the dash. The listing states 4 new tyres and a recent service and MOT.

Anyone got any experience with this car and what should my approach be regarding what to look for/what type of price to offer if i proceed. I have not yet viewed it.

The seller is going to send over the VIN so i can check via Mazda regarding any digital evidence of history.

Thanks

General consensus (not personal experience) is that the petrol is a better engine choice.

Have a look through previous MOTs for evidence of corrosion (Mazdas have a reputation for rusting underneath)

The 4 brand new tyres would worry me (I'm nasty & cynical- you don't fit brand new tyres to sell a car, unless they failed the MOT), if the 4wd coupling unit on the rear diff is faulty it will cause terrific tyre wear, listen for squeals from the tyres and odd noises from underneath when taking tight turns slowly.

You won't get much of any car with a full MOT for £2500 tbh.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Thanks for this, insightful. Just heard back that it’s sold!

Never mind, plenty about on autotrader, notice the petrols are a lot more money.
