Backdated Pip Review

Hi hope someone has some insight into this. My adult son had to fill in a pip review form a few months ago. Eventually got a letter around a week and half ago saying his award has been increased to add mobility which is around 28 ish a week.  It said in the letter that she was putting award back to June 9th 2025 (or words to that effect) which is when they requested the review I think but could have been longer. Its around an additional 120 a month.

Anyhoo, to me that suggested he would get backdated payment to cover June 9th to now or why say it in the letter. However, didn't mention payment of backdated  and have heard nothing since and has been around 10 days since that letter.  Is this usual? Will he get the backdated if this is what they say in the letter and if so why no letter or contact since saying he is owed it? Hope someone can help. (My son is sat back and won't call or anything because of his conditions. I'm an overprotective mother screaming 'where's my sons money?!! lol)

Sounds like he will be owed backdating of a few hundred pounds... they should write separately about that and make one off payment in addition to the usual 4 weekly cycle of his new uprated amount. Not sure on timing... but I'd give a couple of weeks for him to receive further letter (or backpayment to account which could arrive sooner)... these things are likely handled internally quite separately from Decision Maker role. The decision letter itself should probably refer to a separate addressing of backdating - but not clear if you've actually seen the document.

There's another somewhat similar active thread by another member also querying the backdating issue.

Back dated payments come separately, & can take a while.
Can't remember if wife got a letter with back payment amount even though it was in the thousands. Took around 5 weeks.
