Feedback if refunded

An item hasn't been dispatched that I bought over a week ago, non-responsive seller, and I didn't do my due diligence beforehand - I thought their % was high enough - but from other feedback about them selling this type of item it looks like I probably won't be getting anything.
(Simple delivery, if that's relevant; no tracking details uploaded.)
If I'm refunded, can I still leave negative feedback? What do I have to avoid saying so that eBsy don't take it down?
It just seems really weird that they've apparently chosen to scam in this particular category of item yet sell enough other stuff to keep their % high!

Have you raised and Item Not Received case ?
As a seller it's very hard to get ebay to remove feedback, only time I had it removed was when they were rude about ebay !. Just tell the truth and stick to the facts and you should be fine.

I have opened an INR today (Wednesday), yes.
Thanks for the reassurance, it's just I've read of people having feedback removed despite being factual because of mentioning something about a case or eBay refunding - I can't remember quite what though!0 -
Just to close this off, I was refunded and able to leave negative feedback. So far, a few days later, it hasn't been removed.0

I left a neg feedback for an item sold as new, but received rather well used.
I needed it, so decided to keep it (it came from the US too), but had no response at all from questioning the seller.
I left neg feedback stating something along the lines of "item sold as new but received used. Poor comms"
Checked a few days later and it had been removed. I have no idea why.0 -
Because you didn't follow the process.GadgetGuru said:I left a neg feedback for an item sold as new, but received rather well used.

Ebay don't like negative feedback on the site so they have guidelines on using it.
You should have opened a NAD case and returned the item.
Obviously I can see why you chose not to do that and keep the item but, on the whole, it's not normal for a buyer to want to keep an item that is so bad it warrants a negative feedback.
Also, not all sellers are worried about what feedback they receive. They just want the money.
Returning the item effectively 'fines' the seller as they pay the 2 lots of postage and the returns case affects the seller standing rating.0 -
As se2020 says eBay like due process to be followed and a seller in very good standard can argue that as no SNAD case was opened they had no chance to rectify the situation. That’s why when we get sellers on here who have received any message from a buyer about an item not being as described, we also tell the seller to get the buyer to open an SNAD, as if they don’t then any poor feedback can fairly usually be removed if you use the correct wording on the phone to eBay, assuming no INR was opened.GadgetGuru said:I left a neg feedback for an item sold as new, but received rather well used.

Checked a few days later and it had been removed. I have no idea why.It was probably quite a few months ago when I last had one, possibly even a year ago , the widget apparently arrived knocked on one corner , despite being boxed. I politely asked the buyer to send me a photo of the damage and outer packaging before they threw away the packaging (so I could make a claim) and asked them to open a SNAD, saying once item was back with me they would get a refund and I would claim (business sale so custom postage) . They refused to waste time taking photos and insisted I gave them a partial refund as the inner box, the one with the supposed bump, was part of the item and it was so bad they couldn’t now use it as a gift. I reiterated the need to open an SNAD and they just left me a negative. Got it removed within 5 minutes of phoning eBay by saying I was happy to take a return and offer a full refund, and buyer wouldn’t use the eBay system.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
