Morning all, thanks Gers, smiling at your breakfast eating people watching. It's quite pleasant here at the moment.Been and done the dogwalk as I'm out with the cousins at lunchtime and need to smarten myself up/ wash hair etc. Not seen them for a while so looking forward to it. I have to leave a bit early to take DGD to the hairdressers though.@ScarletRibbons , yes you're right re flooding but it's not the stream that causes it as that's downhill from us, the excess water comes from the park and road at the top of us and runs downhill and pools where it's flat outside our houses. The council did a lot of work in 2015 but aren't too great at keeping up with cleaning the special drainage holes, they fill up with mud etc., but DS has found out how to lift the lids- he spent last NYDay emptying them

Enjoy your new blinds!@silver-oldie , I hope you get some response from the birthday card, it's a shame you haven't seen him for a long time. Hugs.@Coxy11 , a friend of ours has a child in a similar position as your DS , also studied law, seems such a waste.Had gammon & egg (+ chips for DH) last night, used up the rest of the joint from Sunday. I've taken some mince out for later. Have a good day all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)8 -
Morning all and thanks @Gers for starting us off today. After overnight rain and a dull and drizzly start to the day, it's cleared up and now the sun is shining with a bright blue sky and just a gentle breeze. Not expected to rain until this evening and, best of all, that gusty wind has gone. We might get up to the dizzy heights of 9 deg too.
I did my Co-op run yesterday once the wind had eased up a bit but it was still pretty breezy and chilly with it too. The store was in chaos as the merchandisers are in re-arranging everything. It's not finished yet and apparently they are working through the night to get it completed. I'll reserve judgement until then but so far can't say I'm impressed, there doesn't seem to be any logic going on! Anyway, small shop done - carrots, swede (both YS), milk and a TV guide - plus donation box found for the Tena pads I got for free with a coupon.
Smart meter installation this afternoon and the walk-in cupboard is empty in readiness. Phone and lappy charged up, flask to be filled with hot water and meter readings to do when the technician rings with his ETA. Of course, this could all be pointless if it doesn't go ahead but I'd rather be prepared! If it does happen, then I'll have to be a lady of leisure while the electricity supply is off.
Tea tonight is a lemon & pepper coated fish fillet with some diced/fried leftover potatoes, apple & yogurt for afters.
@Scarlet - Happy new blinds - and curtains once you've done the alterations.
@Gers - Glad to hear yesterday went so well. I'm also a fan of people watching.
@Ruby - Sorry to hear your DSis has Covid, fingers crossed your DM doesn't end up with it too.
@Coxy - Great news your DS has landed a job at Morrisons. Obviously not what he had hoped for but it's a job. Like you, I sometimes question the wisdom of going to Uni.
@TA - Enjoy Plan A today, hope it stays dry for you.
@mehefin - I think we've probably all had at least one colour scheme disaster at some time or other. My worst one was DS's bedroom as a teenager - black & red (his choice). Little wonder I go for neutrals!
Have a good day all, hugs where needed or wanted and healing wishes for the poorlies. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Morning everyone pleased you enjoyed the show and your hotel breakfast Gers I’ve just got in from a cleaning job and it’s bright but chilly I need to pop out in a minute because the girl who does my eyebrows has just got a kitten I’ve got an appointment tomorrow but I can’t wait that long I need to go in the shop for a peek today . I had to laugh at all the colors the first house I got everything was bright tangerine with dark brown ceilings and worse still when they moved out they had painted round the furniture even the wood work was tangerine so there was white shapes where they had unplugged the plugs and shapes where the furniture had been it was like walking into a weird kids book where they had cut everything out believe me that took some covering. I’ve hung a few things out I don’t know if they will dry but they will be drier and smell nice . Haddock fish cakes tonight with what I don’t know yet hubby’s just finished cleaning the fish tank so we will give the dog a little walk before I do anything. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing7
