Dog towels

I've saved a huge suitcase full of dog necessities and a large amount of dog towels - old towels because they aren't easy to find.
(Was going to find my next dog when I moved, then the pandemic etc so they've just sat there)

Dawned on me the other day that we now have microfibre towels and probably don't need many because they wash and dry more quickly.

Is that right and microfibre dries dogs well?
Can I ditch the cotton towels and save some space please? 🙂

I don't know how well they work on dogs, but I don't particularly like them for myself - maybe you get on OK with them, maybe some microfibre towels do better than others, but I always feel as if I've moved the moisture around rather than getting it off me and onto the towel. Perhaps it's because you need to pat dry rather than rub vigorously ...

I agree. I have a microfibre towel for swimming, but wouldn't swap my normal shower towel  for a micro fibre one.

Also, it's not very MSE... The OP has these towels why not use them, rather than buying more.

I agree with both the above comments, Also microfibre towels shed micro plastics into the water when washed, which is incredibly damaging for the environment

I have microfibre drying coats for my dogs and they seem to work well.  No drying like you do with a towel just put the coat on and it soaks up the water.

Ah well these towels were 3rd hand passed through 3 generations or from a charity shop.
They saw 2 dogs over 30yrs so I think that's MSE enough 😊

I agree about the microfibre which is why I asked. I have some of the first towels and they are great for drying. There are different types because someone don't dry well..
For swimming I spent time looking a lot, found some biggish duster ones and stitched them together in as patchwork. So much lighter as I walk up hills from sea swimming + picnic and water.

So perhaps it's time for some research on the product.
Like the sound of the dog coats. Could have done with those in the past.

Few towels come through charity shops now which is why I'm cautious.
