Starflower Oil to regulate cycles?

We are currently trying for a baby but my cycles are very long since coming off the pill (I was irregular before I started the pill 8 years ago anyway). I've heard a few things about Agnus Cactus and Starflower Oil capsules to take to regulate periods?
Have you heard this? Do you know if it works (and above all is safe)?
Many thanks in advance.

Speak to your pharmasist. I can recommend magnesium for PMS, not sure if it's much help to your situation... But, the supplement I take right now has starflower oil and I have felt nothing but benefit.0

I take 1000mg of Agnus Castus each morning and it seems to work really well for me, I had mad cycles after coming off the pill too (although mine are mad anyway so they're just less mad on the agnus castus). The man in Holland and Barrett did mention that herbal remedies do take longer to work then 'chemical' stuff and I've heard the same about Agnus Castus so you need to take it for a goodly few months before it really gets going :-)
Be aware that you can't take AC when pregnant, some people like to stop taking it when they ovulate others keep taking it until they get a positive test, it's hard to find proper advice about which to do so you'd have to either seek professional advice or make a decision for yourslef (iyswim).
I know nothing about starflower oil though so sorry about that.
If in doubt speak to a homeopathy person though as they'll be able to advise you properly.Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Agnus castus works on the pituitary gland which controls the cycles; I found it helpful when I was menstruating, but pregnancy wasn't on the cards for me. I'd really recommend you see a qualified herbalist; herbs can be very strong indeed, particularly those used in Chinese medicine like Dong Quai and black cohosh.0

I had read alot about both these herbal remedies and was very cynical but something worked .......lolbitter...lol0

I recently started taking starflower oil every day for the two weeks before my period as i read somewhere that it was good for PMS, and i was really really impressed, it didnt affect the length of my cycle or period though, admittdly it's pretty regular anyway.

Hi-I hadn't had a period for nearly 2 yrs & have recently been diagnosed with PCOS-I started taking Agnus Castus and Well Woman vitamins (which have Starflower oil in)and I have had an 8 day period this month(although it was incredibly light and weird) so they are definitely doing something to me!:j

My cycles have always been irregular.
As well as taking evening primrose oil, I found that with regular (3-5 times a week of 1 hour) exercise my cycles became regular.
I had been exercising for a few months when I started trying for my first. I became pregnant straight away.
With my second I was still breastfeeding so took Agnus Castus to regulate the cycles as well starting regular exercise. It took a few months before I became pregnant.
Try exercise and see if that helps as well.0 -

Actually as it happens I joined the gym this weekend and plan to go regularly along with swimming, so hopefully that may help me...I am going to make an appointment to see the doctor next week so will have a chat about the Starflower oil then....
Thanks.
