Loophole to avoid Latest NPower Increase

If you are with NPower and want to avoid the latest increase you can!! Under NPower terms and conditions it states that they will tell you within 10days of changes of prices. Quote "If you do not accept the changes, you may end the agreement as described below under ending this agreement and changing supplier". If you do so within 14 days of being told about the changes, the changes WILL NOT APPLY TO YOU.

So all you have to do is change to another supplier once they have formally told you that the prices are increasing and for the 6 weeks it takes to change to the new supplier you stay on the old rate. By changing to another supplier you get your cashback from USwitch or whoever and save the 20% increase Npower is putting on.

I realise that the other suppliers will also put up prices and you could pick a Donkey but in my experience Scottish Power is always up in the top three so I am going to go with them (I only changed last month to NPower from them, I should have known better!) If they put up there prices more than the norm then I will simply do the same again ie change supplier that is how competition should work!!

By the way I should know I was involved in the setting up of the electricity market at a senior level but I am now retired

  • Hi,

I switched to npower sign online 8 plan when Martin recommended the switch.

How can I switch again? Surly you can`t switch every couple of months taking a £30 cashback everytime?

I`ve also seen on another thread that sign online 8 and 9 plans were uninfected by the price increase. Is there any truth in this as I can`t find any more info on this even on npowers website.

That's exactly what I do, every five to six weeks I switch & go through a cashback site, it nets me around £40 each time depending who i'm moving to.

Bear in mind my DD for both gas & electric is about £50 per month & I have probably got the cheapest gas & electric in the country...

    £50-£40=£10pm !

Martin would be proud of me (& i'm debt free) :D
