Why does the 80% equities option do so well & outperform both the sixty & hundred, I find it hard to find information about what stocks it invest in.
What are some other funds with similar performance to this over the last 12 months, three years and five years

Equities are a growth asset. Bonds are a defensive asset. Real terms growth comes from the Equities portion. Therefore the greater the equity content, the greater the return when looking at growth periods.

And the opposite order in a negative period:

The VLS classic range has not been the strongest in terms of past performance. The VLS global range has been better, but it is not available to you. (global doesnt have the home bias that classic does).
VLS100 is the odd one out in the range and you cannot compare it to other multi-asset funds. It needs to be compared to global trackers, most of which would have performed better due to higher US equities. Had VLS100 existed a decade earlier, then it would have outperformed global trackers in that period.

To find share allocation you would have to look at the portfolio data in each of those funds/etf
HSBC Global Strategy Dynamic Portfolio would have similar performance.2 -
