Closing Bank Accounts for Deceased

I don't know where to post this but hope someone can help me. I am the executor of an aunts Will. She has no assets or property and only a little money in 2 bank accounts. I know I don't have to go through probate but I wonder how do I close her bank accounts. I think I have to send a death certificate and a copy of the Will to the banks. However, if they close the accounts how will I know who she had tranactions with that I may have to deal with?

The banks on submission of documents can provide you with statements for the last x months.
which banks are they? Normally if the are high st ones they have a dedicated "bereavement team" to deal with this.1 -
You need to speak to the banks bereavement team team. As they need to make sure that the accounts are frozen to stop payments in & out.petunia100 said:I don't know where to post this but hope someone can help me. I am the executor of an aunts Will. NatWest has an option to report and submit things online. I looked in to this for MiL but have never got round to doing anything as there was/is no money in her account which wasn't very active anyways for a couple of years before she died.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. As others have mentioned, speak to each bank's dedicated Bereavement team. They will guide you through the process and tell you what information they need (eg death certificate, Will etc), when and how you can get it to them (eg post/electronic/personal visit). If you think there may be some payments in or out that need to be dealt with, they can transfer any monies into a holding account specifically for this purpose. They will also check exactly what accounts your aunt had with them - there may be some you're not aware of. Once everything is completed, they will release funds and provide you with a final statement.Be kind to others and to yourself too.1
